Warning! Scary photos!

Monday, March 2nd
Andrea's middle school does a theme a day "dress down" during this pre-FCAT week.
Today's theme "Pajama Day". I was not the photographer and boy Andrea would probably kill me if she knew I posted this photo. It's okay, the one of me is worse!
Also at school today, we at the Primary Center celebrated Dr. Seuss's Birthday, with a "mixed up day". McKenna had little piggy tales under that cute hat, she looked like Cindy-lu Who from Whoville.

I was gonna go Halloween, but loved the thought of wearing Scott's clothes over mine. I did wear a halloween necklace and easter earrings. Okay, not all that creative for an art teacher, but I still need the kids to take me seriously just a little!

Then we did the "try to take a picture of all three of us by holding the camera at arms reach" photo......told ya - too scary - but fun :)
Tomorrow McKenna and I are back to normal, but it's "Nerd Day" at the middle school. I'm sure that's not PC (politically correct) to say anymore - stay tuned....

Well, here it is the end of the weekend (the saddest words) and I promised to post before it was over. Yesterday, I shared a few "random updates", tonight I leave you with a few random thoughts:

1. I did get to wash the car on that beautiful pre-Spring day yesterday.

2. I just turned on the heat cause the temperature will be cold tonight - crazy Florida weather!

3. Thanks to my mom, I now have some kick butt african/lion art ideas for my students to create for the month of March. I always have "kick-butt" ideas when my mom helps me :o).

4. We had breadfast for dinner tonight - yum - I love when we do that.

5. I finally found my favorite gum at Publix today!

6. I've thought of a children's book idea, well, it truly was a team effort, me, my mom and McKenna. Laura Numeroff (of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie fame) move over!

7. If you are ever at Mimi's, ask for Jim and only accept Jim as your waiter. You won't regret it.

8. I helped Andrea get ready for her "FCAT Spirit Week", I'll try to post a photo of her each day with that day's theme.

9. I did work on some of my photo stuff, just a little, see photo below

10. and, I've decided, before I leave this world, I truly want to go on a Tim Holtz scrapbooking cruise and if I can't do that, taking a class taught by Tim Holtz would be fine too.

Oh, and thought #11. our dogwood tree is in full bloom - yeah, Spring is truly on the way!
I took pics and will post as soon as I can :o)
Best wishes everyone,
love,
Melle
Oh, wait, wait, how could I forget. I want to welcome a friend to the "world of blogging",
Susan, congratulations! I am so tickled for you. Your friends and family will love it!

My friends can be so demanding! LOL
My good friend Kendra has not only asked for a blog update, but she also wanted to see a photo with something new that I've (finally) learned how to do. (I know Mom, you've probably been thinking the same thing!) Actually, I appreciate the "hounding" and you've inspired me to play a little this morning. So much more to accomplish this beautiful pre-spring day. Here's a little and hopefully I'll be back with more BEFORE the weekend is over. (mmm, that word "weekend", isn't it the most beautiful word?)
Don't forget, you can click on photo to make it bigger.
10 random updates:
1. donnie came to visit last week - it was amazing to see him
2. student artwork is up at the sumter co. fair
3. shopping at goodwill today for Andrea's "FCAT Spirit Week" clothes
4. andrea's "tennis" season is almost over - I do not make a good sports mom
5. cards and scott's lasagna at our house tonight

Oh, so enjoyed having Monday off from work - HOWEVER, I still have not learned how to use "brushes" in my digital layouts. Any friends out there who already know how to do this.....I will pay for a lesson! Help, please!!

On a more successful note. I really did post new photos tonight of the cards I made at the last retreat. Check here at www.cardsbymelle.blogspot.com .

Have a wonderful week!

Yes, no, maybe so....

Well, I think so anyway.....I created something in my Corel PSP software, but will have to play a whole lot more before I really understand what I just did!
Whew! Just had a wonderful whole weekend of scrapbooking with friends (thank you Kendra!!!!!!!!!) and now, I can actually say, "I scrapbooked". Otherwise, I just made cards all weekend. (I'll post new cards to here by tomorrow.) My time was very rewarding in so many ways. Thank you my dear, dear friends. :o)

Hello my faithful readers! :o)
I didn't want to let the weekend slip by w/o a quick post.
Did I tell you that I signed up for an "online class". You remember, it's all part of my "aspiring to be more than I am right now" for this year. Well, it's an online class to teach me how to digitally scrapbook in my Corel photo editing software (which I love). Actually, all my goal was is to learn how to add "brushes" and new borders to my photos. I already have scrapbook software (which I love). Well, my head is swimming with new words such as "rasters and layers". I've learned to download scrapbook elements and actually unzip them. (I've never actually done that - Scott is the techy in the family - time I learned.)
So, it's taken me hours to figure out something that someone could have showed me in minutes. However, there is a little satisfaction knowing, "I did it!"
Once I actually create something worth sharing, you'll be the first to see it here!
Best wishes everyone - I'll be back soon,
Melle

Photos as promised....

McKenna and fellow first graders sang this weekend at The Villages Cultural Expo.

Andrea received this beautiful new handmade quilt from her great aunt Charlotte.

Although, this photo may not be much help, I've started combining 12 x 12 photo sleeves with 4x6 and wallet size pages.

I've just about finished a Halloween themed mini-book.

This will be a calendar when finished. Each month is created out of an envelope that will hold a tabbed card that slides out. On the card I plan to list important dates to remember, etc.

Just finished these birthday invitations for a friend at work. Yep, a paying job!

Goodnight all, and best wishes for a great week!
Melle
